The strength of this ministry has always
been the volunteers who give graciously of their time to serve God and
neighbor through Camp Shalom. Volunteers have built cabins,
tilled soil, cooked food, applied band aids on sores, raised money, led
programs and mailed summer brochures. It is a service we depend
on and an attitude we hope to nurture in our campers.
You are invited to consider sharing your
gifts and talents to help us build a strong community committed to
serving. Choose from these options:
Work Weekend April 23-24, 2010
A great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of
the woods while helping camp prepare for the summer. Volunteers
do general maintenance and building projects led by the Operations
Committee and Dwayne Heinrich, maintenance director. Work on
Friday, Saturday, or both days. Breakfast and lunch are provided
and work is done by 3:00 pm. There is a job for every level of

Can't Make Work Weekend?
Sometimes people would like to help with work at camp, but cannot make
a work weekend. There is always a project to do at camp and always a
day available to do it. This provides a nice option for people looking
for a quiet day of work in the woods. All meals, and special snacks,

Bulk Mailings
Mailing newsletters and summer brochures is a rather big process.
But a big process can be transformed into a good time with help.
We need volunteers to help with (3) bulk mailings throughout the
year. Mailings typically last from 9 am to noon. The day of
the week fluctuates. Volunteers will be called prior to mailing
to check availability.
Cooks - Summer 2010
Want to enjoy summer camp and serve? Volunteer cooks help our
Food Service Director, Rose Rowan, prepare and serve meals to the
campers. A total of Three (3) volunteers serve from Monday
breakfast thru Wednesday dinner. Housing is provided in the
Charis House.

Nurses - Summer 2010
Camp Shalom needs nurses to help screen campers on the first day of
camp. The additional nurses help speed-up the registration
process for incoming campers. Volunteer nurses work with the
healthcare director.

Board / Committee
Camp, like any other Christian institution, depends upon good
stewards. Stewards manage the affairs of the organization in such
a way as to bring joy and life to the children and families who grow
through our ministry. Camp Shalom is looking for good stewards to
help us in the following areas:
Board Service
Development Committee
Finance Committee
Marketing Committee
Operations Committee
Personnel Committee
Board and Committee volunteers serve a (3) year term and can serve up to (2) consecutive terms.
